JetSMART Airlines announced on Monday (16) a new connection from Rio de Janeiro (GIG) to San Carlos de Bariloche, in Argentina. The flights, which connect at Buenos Aires’ two main airports, Ezezia (EZE) and Aeroparque (AEP), are already operating and sales are open to travelers.

San Carlos de Bariloche, or just Bariloche, is a popular tourist destination among Brazilians, mainly because of its constant snow. One of the main attractions is Cerro Catedral, famous for its excellent ski and snowboard slopes, as well as offering stunning panoramic views of the region.

The Circuito Chico is another must-see, a panoramic tour that takes in points such as Lake Nahuel Huapi, the San Eduardo Chapel and the Llao Llao Hotel. This tour allows tourists to appreciate the natural beauty and local architecture. Bariloche’s Civic Center, with its vibrant cultural life, is also very busy. Here, visitors can explore museums, artisan chocolate stores and enjoy regional cuisine in the many restaurants and cafés.

In addition, JetSMART has also launched two connections from Florianópolis (FLN) and Foz do Iguaçu (IGU) to Antofagasta in northern Chile. Thus, the airline will add three connections from Brazil to other cities in the region.

The airline commented that this is a good time for new connections, as Brazilians are very attracted to Argentine tourism. By 2024, more than 1 million travelers from Brazil are expected in the country, according to the local Ministry of Tourism.

In Brazil, JetSMART currently offers a total of five direct flights linking Florianópolis with Santiago de Chile; Rio de Janeiro with Santiago, Buenos Aires and Montevideo; and Foz do Iguaçu (PR) also with Santiago.

The airline now also has other options for connecting flights from Brazil to other destinations, including; Buenos Aires, Concepción and Puerto Montt, all via Santiago de Chile. From Rio de Janeiro there are flights to Iquique, Calama, Antofagasta, Concepción and Puerto Montt, also with connections in Santiago. There are also flights from Rio de Janeiro to Mendoza and Lima with connections in Buenos Aires. Finally, for those flying from Florianópolis, you can go to Concepción via Santiago.

In March, ch aviation recognized JetSMART as the company with the youngest aircraft fleet in South America and the fifth youngest in the world, with an average age of 2.96 years, in the ch-aviation World’s Younger Aircraft Fleet Award. Its fleet is made up of 41 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, making it the ultra-low-cost airline with the largest fleet in South America and it has two SKYTRAX awards, as the best ultra-low-cost airline in 2021 and 2023.
