New Year’s Eve: Copacabana will have stages in the shape of sculptures and tambourines to celebrate 2025

On Wednesday, Riotur agreed on the format for New Year’s Eve in Copacabana. The party to celebrate 2025 will have two stages. The main stage, as is tradition, will be set up in front of the Copacabana Palace hotel. But it will have a different format to anything else that has been conceived for the party. The same goes for the second structure, which will be on Leme Beach. The theme will be: “The biggest turn of the world”.

– The main stage will be in the shape of a large sculpture, all covered in LED lights – said set designer Abel Gomes, director of SRCOM, which will be producing the party for the 17th time.

The second stage, with exclusive samba performances, will be in the shape of a pandeiro. These were not the first stages with different formats set up by the company. Last year, at a concert by DJ Alok to celebrate the centenary of the Copacabana Palace Hotel, the stage set up on the sand was in the shape of a pyramid, also made of LED, over 20 meters high.

Those who are not close to the stage will be able to enjoy the shows with the help of 20 sound towers that will be installed on the beach. The artists invited to perform at New Year’s Eve will probably be decided by October. Part of the party’s format will remain unchanged.

The duration of the fireworks display has been kept to 12 minutes, as in recent years. As has been the case since the turn of 2000 to 2001, the artifacts will be mounted on ten rafts that will be anchored 450 meters from the beach, with a distance of 275 meters between them.

The promise is that the fireworks will be detonated to the sound of a soundtrack that this year will be the responsibility of DJ and music producer Daniel Lopes. At this point, there may be surprises, such as tributes to well-known artists. Last year, part of the soundtrack was dedicated to reproducing hits by Rita Lee, who died in May 2023.

SRCom was the only production company to submit a proposal to City Hall to produce the party. In addition to Copacabana, it will be responsible for producing New Year’s Eve in ten other neighborhoods: Flamengo and Igreja da Penha (where there will also be fireworks); as well as setting up stages with shows to be held in Praça Mauá, Piscinão de Ramos, Penha, Parque Madureira, Bangu, Praia de Sepetiba, Barra de Guaratiba and Ilha do Govenador.

In addition to these locations, hotel owners in Barra and Recreio are also expected to promote fireworks shows at 12 points on the tops of buildings. But the design of the party is still under discussion with the city council
