Booking.com – a company that books hotels, vacation rentals, flights and other tourism services – conducted a data survey* on the platform to discover the most sought-after destinations (not necessarily the most booked) for Carnival – between March 1 and 5, 2025.
The study revealed that Brazil is the country most sought after by travelers from all over the world during this period, with Rio de Janeiro being the second most coveted destination on a global scale, behind Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and ahead of Barcelona (Spain) and Paris (France). In fact, compared to last year’s Carnival (between February 9 and 14, 2024), there was a 23% increase in accommodation searches for the city of Rio de Janeiro.
The marvelous city also ranks first in searches by Brazilian tourists for Carnival travel, followed by João Pessoa, which was recently voted one of Booking.com’s top ten global trend destinations for 2025.

Among foreign tourists planning to visit Brazil for the holidays, Rio de Janeiro continues to lead the way. Of the five most popular national destinations, three are in its territory: the capital, Rio de Janeiro, and Arraial do Cabo and Búzios, both in the Lakes Region. Santa Catarina also stands out with two destinations on the list: Florianópolis and Bombinhas.
