Rio has won the hearts of the world once again by being voted “Best Holiday Destination” by the 2024 World Travel Awards (WTA). Competing with renowned cities such as Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, among others, the wonderful city was recognized for its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
The awards ceremony, held on Tuesday (02/06) in the Caribbean, also revealed that Rio de Janeiro was the champion in the “Best Cultural Destination” category. The recognition highlights not only the city’s iconic beaches and landscapes, but also its rich cultural heritage, which attracts visitors from all over the world.
The coveted Copacabana Palace, an icon of luxury and sophistication in Rio’s South Zone, received the award for “Best Accommodation”. The hotel, known for its glamor and its penthouse, where celebrities such as singer Madonna have stayed, was the champion of the competition.
Voting to determine the winners of the World Travel Awards involves tourism professionals, specialized media and consumers from more than 200 countries around the world.
