For the second year running, the city of Rio de Janeiro is hosting the Latin America’s 50 Best awards, considered the Oscars of gastronomy. At the ceremony, the 50 restaurants listed among the best in Latin America will be announced.
This year’s ceremony is scheduled for November 26 at the Roxy in Copacabana. This will be the second time the awards have been held in the capital of Rio de Janeiro since its creation in 2013.
In addition to the awards ceremony, the program of events in Rio de Janeiro includes another edition of #50BestTalks. On November 25, some of the world’s most influential chefs will discuss the most poignant topics in gastronomy. Debuting last year, the special dinners called 50 Best Signature Sessions will also be back.
Last year’s edition featured 23 Latin American cities among the top 50 – the first place went to the Peruvian restaurant Maido, located in the capital of the Andean country.

Other awards
In the months leading up to the awards ceremony, 50 Best will announce a series of special awards, including Latin America’s Best Female Chef Award, the Gin Mare Art of Hospitality Award and the American Express One To Watch Award. Continuing its mission to promote a greater number of restaurants, 50 Best will also unveil its third annual list of venues ranked from 51st to 100th. The announcement is due to take place on November 14th.
